About
Dion Clegg
After leaving school Dion started working with a member of his family who is also an experienced well-respected local farrier, with over 25 years’ experience.
Through the apprenticeship not only did Dion learn how to shoe horses to a high standard and remedial farriery. He also learnt a lot of valuable skills in horsemanship including young nervous horses, horses with foals at foot and horses that have had bad experiences. Bringing these round to trust you again.
Dion then qualified as a Dip WCF Farrier after studying at Hereford College, Holme Lacy Campus.
Dion has had connections with the world of horses from a very young age. He started riding when he was just 8 years old at basic level and worked up to Hunter trials and eventing. Regularly competing at Coniston Hunt, a favourite of his, amongst many others.
It is these experiences, growing up dealing with all types of horses, that helped Dion understand how to read a situation with a horse and how this needs responding to with a nice easy and slow approach.
Dion covers approximately 20 miles radius from Sabden Ribble valley. He’s fully registered with Farriers Registration Council and fully insured with public liability insurance.
